‘True length or holy length charms are a feature of Austrian and Bavarian religious Catholic folk magic.
The interest in these links is founded upon Ephesians chapter 3 verses 17 through 19, in which Paul praise, “that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith, that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. “
Some scholars date these true links to middle ages. The earliest were fixed spaces, the width of a door, for instance.’
personal note: What I enjoy about this book is that it regards signs, symbols, charms, runes, hieroglyphics, magic, heaven, calligraphy, lettering, hand written letters and notes, and paper. As well as written prayers, written petition, and word puzzles.
