Book of the Day
American color photography from Stieglitz to Sherman
From the Milwaukee Art Museum
Alfred Stieglitz created his first series of autochromes and his excitement led him to organize the first American exhibition of the color process. The show featured photography by Frank Eugene, Edward Steichen and Alfred himself at the gallery 291 with the thought to raise photography to the same status of painting and sculpture. 1907-1910
The cover of the book is by Edwards Steichen titled banquet of flowers January 8, 1940
It is a wonderful book of curated photography art history.
