Happy International Literacy Day

On Tuesday, September 8 we celebrate literacy day. This day is also known as Reading day.

Literacy is essential for proper social and individual human skills and development, it is a human right, it is a dignified human right. Literacy skills equip individuals with the knowledge to transform their lives by improving their overall standard of living and in turn improving the standards of living for all communities. Literacy improves the lives of children, men, and women. And improves the lives of animals of nature and of this earth.

In 2019 we celebrated multiple languages, also known as Multilingualism, in International Literacy Day. In that we celebrate diversity. We as a whole are filled with culture, art, and history throughout this world. We are one, we celebrate Oneness

This September 2020, international literacy day focus upon learning as a lifelong perspective. Learning through literacy focuses upon children through adults. Reading and writing are the two most fundamental aspects of life. In order to learn we must be able to read and we must be able to write.

In 1965 the world conference of ministers of education acted upon the eradication of illiteracy, this was discussed and international literacy day was conceived in Tehran, Iran.

Give a child a book.  And, give an Adult a book.

A book is one of the most wonderful gifts a person can receive.

Reading is fundamental, and Reading is Fun.  FUN

Read to a child, read to yourself, read to another adult, read before bed, read to bring you peace, read to gain knowledge, read for fun.

Learn lessons and gain knowledge.

Be inspired, and in turn inspire someone else.

Reading as a child gave me the freedom to read as an adult.  As well as write.  I wrote stories, I wrote papers, I wrote poems, I wrote in journals and I later wrote a book.

Growing up, I poured my energy into understanding, mediating, and reading a variety of mediums and subjects.

I am now a published Author.

My newest book is for any age, children through adults, no matter how old or how young you are.

Throughout my life, I have been fascinated by the universe, angels, and creation. Developing a sense of self was always important to me. Even as a child I saw the world with knowledge and wisdom, through the eyes of an adult.

In my book “Amethyst and Pyres The Story of How it Began” a crystal named Amethyst blinks awake and discovers herself alone in a strange void. All around her is a sea of possibility. As she dreams, she sees a universe unfold behind her eyes: a beautiful creation only she can build. Testing her power, she explores the possibilities of life, love, and creation. The universe comes alive at her call.

In the heart of Mars, Amethyst meet Pyres. Combining their imaginations, Amethyst’s visions continue to awaken across the vast distances of space. Through the act of creation, the two explorers discover something we are all searching for: love.

From Friesen Press:

“With poetic language and rich imagery, Maria takes readers on a mystical and magical journey that will delight readers both young and young at heart. This fable about how life originated through creation and design encourages us all to reconnect with the lost parts of ourselves. Amethyst and Pyres show us how to unify our hearts with our minds. They remind us of the stunning world we create when we let love in.”

I hope Amethyst and Pyres’ exploration will show readers the importance of love, and inspire those who read it.

In addition to today being Literacy Day, it is Mother Mary’s birthday.  Approximately one year ago I wrote this story in my notebook, the story of Amethyst and Pyres.  It was then that I was guided toward publishing it with Friesen Press.  Guided by Mary, my queen of angels.  Friesen Press is a 100 percent employee owned publishing company with some of the sweetest people you will ever meet.   Ethical, honest, hard working, inspiring, good listeners full of creativity.  They made the entire process fun.

Religion or no religion, I believe in Mother Mary, and I believe in God.

They both have a place in our hearts and in our creativity.

I design oils and special one of a kind bracelets.  I have one for Mary and one for Father God.  Both avid readers.

  1. Congratulations on your new book Heather Maria. Reading the post, I suddenly solved a mystery from my childhood – why my late father got me a book club membership when I was 5 years old and encouraged me to read all kinds of genre.

He was posted at the Indian Embassy in Tehran at the time and knowing his work, most probably would have attended the conference too. What a small world!

  2. From the time I was 5 and found out where books came from, I’ve wanted to surround myself with books and to write some of my own. I consider myself a lifelong learner and to this day prefer to pick up a book to learn something new rather than cruise around the internet. Holding a book in my hands makes me feel powerful, as if I could do anything!
